What career & life path led you to working at OneVest?
My journey started from a small town in North Quebec with dreams to move to the big cities. Currently living in Ottawa, I had the chance to work in Vancouver (AKA best place ever) and remotely from the Netherlands! With a curious mind and an adventurous heart, I dove headfirst into the wild world of finance. I explored different roles and industries, rubbing shoulders with all kinds of businesses, big and small. But something was missing. I craved a workplace where I could truly connect with the people, the products and where I would be given the opportunity to unleash my inner finance guru. And then, like a hot cup of coffee on a chilly morning, Onevest came along. Very grateful to have found a place where I could do what I like, be who I am, and work remotely.
What do you do at OneVest?
I’m the Finance Manager for Onevest. I oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring that it remains financially healthy and compliant with regulations. In a startup, usually comes more responsibilities, which is what makes it so rewarding and fun everyday. I have the opportunity to develop and implement financial strategies, analyse the financial data, prepare financial reports, find new software solutions to automate processes, forecast the financial future, etc. Compared to previous roles where I was more focused on one thing, I can do everything finance related.
What is your favourite part about working at OneVest?
I absolutely adore working at Onevest. The challenges keep me on my toes, met extraordinary new people, and the remote work option fits my family lifestyle perfectly. But what really sets this company apart is the humble and open culture. It's refreshing to work with people who don't have their heads in the clouds.
What do you do outside of work?
I'm a sports enthusiast, but let's face it, I don’t break a sweat every day. So, when I'm not out there serving up aces or shredding the slopes, I will spend time with my significant other and friends, watch Drive to Survive and Make or Break, manage my fantasy hockey and F1 pools! Definitely love to travel and learn new things.
What's your go-to karaoke song?
I have yet to fully develop my relationship with Karaoke. Something from Avenged Sevenfold likely.
