"The culture here also allows me to feel comfortable asking questions, learning, and taking interest in any part of the business."
I grew up in Calgary and currently am pursuing a commerce degree in Risk Management and Insurance at the University of Calgary. My first internship was in oil and gas and I was interested in finding employment in a different industry the next time around. When I saw the OneVest internship posts on UofC's job board I was instantly excited about the possibility of getting to make an impact at a start-up company while simultaneously learning more about wealth management. At the time, I didn't know much about finance and wealth management at all, but I am so glad that I took a leap of faith and applied anyways!
I am an Operations Intern at OneVest, which has allowed me to be exposed to many different areas of the company. My main roles are to help coordinate and complete internal projects among teams, as well as add to the projects themselves. This has been a great experience for me so far as it has exposed me to many different areas of the company and also let me work with an array of different people. I am really fortunate to feel like my opinions and ideas matter here at OneVest, which is different from other jobs I have had in the past.
The best part of working at OneVest for me is the sense of community and inclusivity that I instantly felt a part of when I joined the team. The atmosphere that OneVest strives hard to create is one of kindness, openness, and acceptance - all values that I look for as a student. The culture here also allows me to feel comfortable asking questions, learning, and taking interest in any part of the business.
Most of my free time is spent coaching synchronized swimming, going out for brunch with friends, hanging with my cat Nemo, or walking my dog Ace. I also love true crime books and podcasts, or watching Friday Night Lights.
