What career & life path led you to working at OneVest?
I grew up in Calgary and graduated with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance. I started at OneVest as an Operations Intern, and gradually discovered that my interests fell more within compliance. During school, I didn't know much about finance and wealth management at all, but I am so glad that I took a leap of faith and applied anyways. Once I graduated, I was able to join the team as a full time employee on the compliance team.
What do you do at OneVest?
I mostly deal with the client risk side of things at OneVest, which involves communicating with clients, analyzing patterns, and trying to deal with potential risks before they become major issues. I also work closely with my team to make sure that OneVest is following all necessary regulations and laws that apply to us. Working in compliance has been a great experience as it has exposed me to many different areas of the company and also let me work with an array of different people. I am really fortunate to feel like my opinions and ideas matter here at OneVest, which is different from other jobs I have had in the past.
What is your favourite part about working at OneVest?
The best part of working at OneVest for me is the sense of community and inclusivity that I instantly felt a part of when I joined the team. The atmosphere that OneVest strives hard to create is one of kindness, openness, and acceptance - all values that I look for as a student. The culture here also allows me to feel comfortable asking questions, learning, and taking interest in any part of the business.
What do you do outside of work?
Most of my free time is spent coaching synchronized swimming, going out for brunch with friends, hanging with my cat Nemo, or walking my dog Ace. I also love true crime books and podcasts, or watching Friday Night Lights.
